Devon-Aire Villas History

Located in West Kendall, the townhouses that are part of Devon-Aire Villas Homeowners Association # 1 were built by F&R Builders, Inc., a subsidiary of Lennar Corp. Conceived as starter homes for single families or those thinking of downsizing, the homes were constructed around wide-open green spaces. Construction occurred in three phases starting in 1977 on the West side of SW 122nd Ave with Section 1 & Section 2 and later followed by construction on the East side of SW 122nd Ave with Section 3.

Originally planned as a 310 unit development. Five models were available to choose from during the construction phase of the first three phases. They are: The Briarwood, The Oakwood, The Pinewood, The Stoneybrook & The Timberridge. F&R Builders, Inc. also went on to build Devon-Aire Villas # 2, 3, 4 & 5 as well as surrounding homes which are part of Devon-Aire Estates. The Pinewood model was later discontinued during the development of Devon-Aire Villas # 2, 3, 4 & 5 and a new model, The Cedarridge, was introduced.
